Professional Career
Commissioner Besecker recently retired after 28 years as a National Board Certified teacher at Campbell County High School, where he coached varsity baseball, chaired the Social Studies Department, served on the Site-Based Decision Making Council, and led student and community initiatives. He was named Veterans of Foreign Wars Kentucky State Teacher of the Year, served as President of Teacher Leadership NKY, and received the Kentucky National Guard American Patriot Award for his support of veterans and military families.
Public Service
Commissioner Besecker was first elected District 2 Commissioner in November 2018 and was re-elected in 2022. He is currently serving his second term. He has focused on responsible economic development, public safety, parks and recreational amenities, countywide broadband access, and access to public water infrastructure, and he remains committed to building a stronger, more connected Campbell County for current residents and future generations.
Personal Background
Commissioner Besecker is a longtime resident of Grant's Lick. He and his wife, Toni, a retired educator who taught for 31 years at Grant's Lick Elementary School, are the proud parents of four sons, all graduates of Campbell County High School. He enjoys camping, gardening, reading, and spending time with his family.
Education
Commissioner Besecker holds a bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University and a master's degree from Northern Kentucky University. He also holds a National Board Teaching certificate in secondary education.
Community Involvement
Commissioner Besecker is a deacon at Main Street Baptist Church, an associate member of the Fraternal Order of Police, a former member of the CARE Mission Board of Directors, and a reading mentor in Campbell County Schools. He has supported the annual Crosstown Food-Out, which has collected more than 20 tons of food for the CARE Mission, and he directed Campbell County's youth basketball program for 15 years, running both recreational and select leagues. He served as President of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Northern Kentucky Class of 2025 and remains on the Chamber's Leadership Steering Committee. He and Toni founded the Campbell County Education Foundation, where he serves as president, and he is President of the Campbell County Kiwanis Club.
